You will join our Cultural Services Team, a dedicated group committed to the preservation, revitalisation and celebration of Ngāti Toa reo, culture, toi and identity. Through our commitment to Te Reo, Toi, Whakapapa me ngā Taonga tuku iho, we support whānau and communities to connect with, strengthen and express their cultural identity.
Our team delivers a range of cultural programmes, wānanga and learning opportunities that nurture the transmission of knowledge across generations. We maintain and protect whakapapa information, support the development of traditional and contemporary toi practices, and create opportunities for whānau to engage meaningfully with their culture. Guided by our values and kaupapa, we work collaboratively to uphold cultural integrity and contribute to the aspirations of Ngāti Toa now and for future generations.
Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role
The Kaiwhakarite Ahurea Toi is responsible for coordinating and supporting the delivery of cultural arts programmes, wānanga and initiatives that contribute to the revitalisation and growth of Ngāti Toa cultural knowledge and practice.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinating toi classes - administration, enrolments, attendance records and communications.
Supporting tutors and kaiako with class planning, resources and programme delivery.
Assisting with the organisation and delivery of wānanga, including pānui, registrations, logistics and participant support.
Researching, preparing and submitting funding applications and reporting requirements.
Building and maintaining effective relationships with tauira, whānau, kaimahi, funders and community stakeholders.
Supporting the successful delivery of cultural events, exhibitions and community-based initiatives.
Contributing to the continuous improvement and development of cultural programmes, projects and services.

Now that you’ve learned a little more about us and the role, the information below will help you decide whether this is the right opportunity for you. Your experience in programme coordination, administration and community engagement is a given, and you will be excited to learn alongside Ngāti Toa.
Of course, you'll be well practised in:
Coordinating events, programmes and hui both internally and externally.
Managing multiple priorities and maintaining attention to detail.
Bulding and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
Preparing reports, funding applications and administrative documentation.
Using digital systems and Microsoft Office applications to support programme delivery.
Working in environments where tikanga Māori and cultural values are respected and upheld.
Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, Ngāti Toa history, tikanga and cultural practices will be highly valued.
You would have worked in a high paced business environment and demonstrated the initiative to identify and solve problems.
