Based within Te Pikau o Te Rangi, we offer the opportunity to apply your specialist expertise within an iwi-based, whānau-led inclusive education service operating from the heart of Pātaka Toa in Porirua. Our close-knit rōpū is grounded in our mātāpono — Tahutahuahi, Tātarāmoa, and Te Heke Mai Raro — and every journey we walk is shaped by the whānau themselves. Together, we wrap holistic, strengths-based support around tauira with complex learning needs, and we strive to ensure that every tauira and whānau feels valued, heard, and supported.
Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role
Our Senior Early Intervention Teacher (1.0 FTE) will be a key member of Te Pikau o Te Rangi's wider inclusive education service. In this role you will:
Deliver high-quality, culturally responsive early intervention support across whare, kura, and hapori that enables tauira participation and success
Assess, plan, and review Mauri Ora Development Plans in genuine partnership with whānau
Coach whānau and educators to build confidence and capability around each tauira
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary rōpū, contributing to a culture of reflective, practice, continuous improvement, and collective capability

Well, after hearing about us and about the role, you’ll know whether you’re the right person, and whether now is the right time for you. Your experience in early intervention or specialist teaching is a given, along with your New Zealand teacher registration and a completed or in-progress Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching (early intervention). You'll bring working knowledge and significant experience of Te Whāriki, Kōwhiti Whakapae, and multilingual development — and a genuine passion for walking alongside tauira and whānau.
