Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira is seeking expressions of interest from iwi members to be appointed as the Ngāti Toa representative on the following committees (one person for both committees).
· Te Tai Ao Komiti - (Nelson Provincial Museum)
· Ko Te Pouaranga - (Suter Art Gallery)
About the Committees
Te Tai Ao Komiti is the iwi advisory committee for Tasman Bays Heritage Trust (Nelson Provincial Museum), Ko Te Pouaranga is the iwi advisory committee for The Suter Art Gallery. The committee meetings are run as a combined committee.
Te Tai Ao Komiti, Tasman Bays Heritage Trust
The Komiti will represent at all times the long-term interests of the Mana Whenua of Whakatu, Motueka and Mohua and Tasman Bays Heritage Trust, as reflected in the Tasman Bays Heritage Trust Deed. In particular, the stated Aim of the Trust:
''The aim of the Trust shall be to foster, promote and celebrate a sense of history and awareness of the importance of the region's heritage and identity and the relationship of the Tangata Whenua to their taonga."
The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū Trust
The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatu Trust, formerly known as The Bishop Suter Trust, is a charitable trust that operates The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatu in Nelson, New Zealand. The gallery was founded by Anglican Bishop Andrew Burn Suter and his wife, Amelia, who donated a piece of land for the purpose of building an art gallery for the city in 1895.
The charitable trust has the primary objective to provide the people of Nelson and visitors to the region, access to our cultural heritage and to the many forms of contemporary cultural expression.
Residency within Whakatu is required.
Tenure term is 3 years.
The position is not remunerated.
