Background on Tawa Intermediate School.

Tawa Intermediate School is built on the land of Ngati Toa Rangatira.

The school learning teams are named after areas of significance to Ngati Toa and illustrate the learning journey each student faces:

Rangituhi and Whitireia receive an ambience of rain- just as Tawa Intermediate School welcome individuals from differing cultures and heritages. Together these individuals come together in the safety of the Porirua and Tawa valley, where they are nurtured.

Ahead lies the challenges of Raukawa Moana.

The strategic goals reflect this also:

  • “We belong” reflects te maunga, the defining landmarks of our identity.

  • “We grow together “reflects the sustenance gained from Porirua Harbour and the Tawa Valley.

  • “We shape the future” speaks to the focus on the path ahead.
