Advancing together into a brighter future

Ko wai mātou | About us

Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira exists to serve Ngāti Toa and strengthen the long-term wellbeing, prosperity, and rangatiratanga of our iwi.

We are looking for an organised, capable, and proactive People and Capability Coordinator to join our Corporate Services team. This role sits at the centre of our people systems and processes, helping ensure our kaimahi experience professional, responsive, and well-coordinated people support from recruitment through to employment.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity, takes pride in quality administration, and understands that good systems and disciplined processes create a better experience for everyone.

The opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager People and Capability, you will provide coordination and administrative support across the full range of People and Capability activities.

You will manage recruitment administration, onboarding, HRIS administration, people data, reporting, and general team coordination. You will also be a key point of contact for kaimahi seeking advice or support on routine people-related matters.

This role is suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple priorities, values accuracy, and takes ownership of getting things done well.

What you will do

You will:

  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment administration, from advertising roles through to onboarding new kaimahi.

  • Support hiring managers and candidates throughout the recruitment process.

  • Maintain employee records, documentation, and people data.

  • Administer and continuously improve our HR information systems.

  • Manage People and Capability inbox enquiries and coordinate responses.

  • Support learning, development, performance, and organisational capability initiatives.

  • Prepare workforce reports and data to support decision-making.

  • Help ensure employment processes and documentation remain compliant, accurate, and up to date.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement across People and Capability systems and processes.

Ko ngā wheako ōu | About you

You are highly organised, detail-oriented, and enjoy supporting others to succeed.

You will bring:

  • Experience in an HR, People and Capability, recruitment, administration, coordination, or similar role.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.

  • Confidence working with systems, technology, and data.

  • Sound judgement and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality.

  • A customer-focused approach and a commitment to delivering excellent service.

Experience with HRIS platforms, recruitment processes, onboarding, or workforce reporting would be advantageous.

Who will thrive here

You are likely to succeed in this role if you:

  • Take pride in producing accurate and high-quality work.

  • Notice details others miss.

  • Follow through on commitments.

  • Enjoy creating structure and consistency.

  • Respond positively to change and new challenges.

  • Build strong working relationships across all levels of an organisation.

  • Look for better ways of doing things rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
