Mō te ohu | About the team

Based within Te Pikau o Te Rangi, we offer the opportunity to contribute to an iwi-based, whānau-led inclusive education service operating from the heart of Pātaka Toa in Porirua. Together, we wrap holistic, strengths-based support around tamariki with complex learning needs, and we strive to ensure that every tamaiti and whānau feel valued, heard, and supported.

Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

Our Early Years Kaihoe (0.5 FTE) will be key members of Te Pikau o Te Rangi's wider inclusive education service. In this role you will:

• Support tamariki to participate in learning, play and daily routines, working alongside kaiako using agreed strategies and goals

• Build positive, trusted relationships with tamariki, whānau and kaiako, sharing observations and contributing to reflective discussions

• Follow each centre's philosophy, policies, procedures and tikanga, working with the guidance of Pikau's Early Intervention Teacher or Speech-Language Therapist

Mōu | About you

Your genuine interest and experience in early childhood or inclusive education is a given, and you will be excited to engage and learn alongside Ngāti Toa. You'll have experience or genuine interest working with tamariki and whānau Māori and Pākehā, an ability to work alongside kaiako in an ECE setting, applying agreed strategies while respecting their lead role with tamariki. Addtionally, you’ll bring excellent observation, communication and relationship-building skills, with the flexibility to adapt across different centres and routines. But what will really stand out is a genuine passion for walking alongside tauira and whānau, your aroha for the mahi, and your commitment to whānau-led, culturally grounded practice.
