Ko ngā wheako ōu | About you
You bring strong teaching experience and a genuine commitment to supporting tamariki rangatahi to flourish. You are motivated to learn alongside Ngāti Toa, uphold tikanga and contribute to a learning environment where identity, belonging and excellence sit at the centre.
You will have:
Full Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand registration
Co-teaching experience, with strength in project-based, authentic and digital learning
Broad curriculum experience across secondary or primary education, including assessment and achievement pathways
Specialist subject expertise, with adaptable and engaging teaching practice
Strong attention to detail in planning, delivery, and assessment
Professional, discretion and relational capability across diverse learning environments
Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role
Our kaiako carry the responsibility of championing intergenerational mātauranga and supporting each rangatahi to grow through our Mauri Ora approach. Working alongside the Tumuaki, whānau, and iwi, you will help design and deliver learning that reflects Ngāti Toa aspirations and prepares rangatahi for life beyond school.,
You will:
Uphold and live our tikanga, mātāpono and values: Whanaungatanga, Mana Motuhake, Manaakitanga and Auahatanga
Activate Mauri Ora Plans with rangatahi and whānau, ensuring learning is personalised, strengths‑based and connected to future pathways
Build deep mentoring relationships within our intentionally small learning community
Facilitate authentic, real‑world learning experiences, including Life Labs and project‑based learning
Apply best practice informed by current research, theory and kaupapa Māori approaches
Use digital and AI tools to enhance teaching, personalise learning and support rangatahi progress
Commit to ongoing professional development and contribute learning back to the team
