Ko wai mātou | About us
Well, it’s not actually about us at all. It’s about the people and communities we serve. Ngāti Toa is a vibrant and influential iwi, firmly grounded in our cultural identity. And we’re paddling our own waka forward in leading significant change in enhancing the mana, wellbeing and prosperity of Ngāti Toa and the communities in which we thrive.
Ko te Puna | About the Puna
Te Puna Reo o Ngāti Toa is a total immersion ECE that was established to enable our tamariki, mokopuna from the ages of 0-5, with the fundamental values and knowledge to help further their education in Te Ao Māori as lifelong learners. We’re excited to explore alternative ways of service at Te Puna Reo to ensure our ways of learning and teaching support intergenerational transmission of mātauranga in a modern day context.
Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role
Te Puna Reo o Ngāti Toa is seeking an experienced Kaiwhakahaere to lead the daily operations of the Puna. You will be responsible for ensuring kaupapa Māori reo-first practice and curriculum is embedded in everyday operations; for facilitating shared leadership between whānau and kaimahi; and employing appropriate use of resources and compliance related to people, place and kaupapa. Essential to the Kaiwhakahaere duty is maintaining a safe Puna for our tamariki, sustained with high-quality, identity-rich learning modelled by the mātauranga of Ngāti Toa.
Ko ngā wheako ōu | About you
After hearing about us and about the role, you’ll know whether you’re the right person, and whether now is the right time for you. Your high-level experience in Puna or Kōhanga reo alike, and your recognised ECE qualification is a given. You will be excited to engage and learn alongside Ngāti Toa. Of course, you’ll be well practiced with leading kaimahi, supporting whānau engagement, and have solid capability in Te Reo Māori.
But the thing that will really stand out is your love for the work, and the people. The Rūnanga is a diverse and inclusive organisation positioned to understand and serve our communities. So, you’ll be ready to give your best in the service of our tamariki, in areas that matter.
And in return for your hard work, we can offer you:
· Modern environment with friendly team;
· Kaimahi centred discounts across banking and wellbeing activities;
· Commitment to professional development;
· The opportunity to serve our iwi and community aspirations – to be a part of a bigger purpose.
Excited? We are – because the Puna is up to big things. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch at HR@Ngatitoa.iwi.nz
To apply for the role please submit you CV and cover letter. Please indicate in your documentation whether you have an affiliation to Ngāti Toa to help us get to know you.
