Churton Park School Board

Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira is seeking expressions of interest from iwi members to be appointed as the Ngāti Toa representative on the above school board.

Churton Park School provides primary education for students from years 1 to 6. They are proud to have a strong connection with their community and are committed to supporting and guiding their tamariki to have a love and curiosity of learning.

The school whakatauki is 'Mā whero, mā pango kua oti te mahi' (when we work together, we can achieve great things)

The representative will:

  • Guide the Board on principles of tikanga and Te Ao Māori.

  • Apply a cultural lens to learning and governance, drawing on perspectives and lived experience not currently represented on the Board.

  • Improve engagement with Māori whānau to ensure their voices are heard within our governance structures.

  • Move toward genuine partnership, ensuring our Te Tiriti obligations are met with authenticity rather than just compliance.

  • Advocate for equity and wellbeing, ensuring governance decisions reflect best practices for all student outcomes.

The board meets approximately eight times per year. The position is remunerated.
