The Puna Reo plays a vital role in Ngāti Toa Rangatira's reo revitalisation efforts and in the growth of our tamariki and whānau. At Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira, we celebrate te reo Māori, our Ngāti Toa identity, and take pride in our dedication to incorporating te reo Māori and tikanga into all aspects of teaching and learning.
We are seeking a qualified kaiako to cover maternity leave for a period of 6 months. A genuine passion for the well-being and education of tamariki is essential, along with a strong commitment to being fully immersed in a te reo Māori environment at Puna Reo.

Kia toa, kia rere, kia Māori. Ko te whainga ia, kia tū pakari ngā tamariki, kia matatau hoki ki ngā āhuatanga o te ao Māori me te ao hurihuri. Kia whakaako i ngā tamariki i ngā kōrero whakapapa me ngā kōrero tuku iho o Ngāti Toa. Kia tupu te kaha o te kōrero Māori ki te Puna, ki te Marae, tae noa ki ngā kainga.
We are a kaupapa Māori Puna Reo where tamariki thrive in a nurturing, reo Māori-rich environment. Our dream is for all our kaiako to be confident, fluent speakers of te reo Māori. We are seeking:
Qualified ECE kaiako (ECE teaching qualification + registration).
Fluent speakers of te reo Māori or those committed to their reo Māori journey.
Teachers with a passion for tamariki, whānau, and kaupapa Māori values.
Team players open to ongoing learning, mentoring, and professional development.

Additionally, please provide two referees who can speak to your Kaiako practice and/or your suitability for the position

Well, after hearing about us and about the role, you’ll know whether you’re the right person, and whether now is the right time for you. Your high-level experience and professional expertise in teaching tamariki is a given, and you will be excited to engage and learn alongside Ngāti Toa. Of course, you’ll be well practiced with/in
· Successfully implementing Te Whāriki within all aspects of teaching and learning
· Supporting tamariki with a powerful sense of identify, language and culture as Māori
· Working collaboratively in a team environment
