Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira is seeking a talented Data and Insights Specialist to join our newly established Data and Insights team. This pivotal role will help drive innovation and transformation through data-informed decision-making that is grounded in Te Ao Māori and upholds the mana of our iwi and whānau.

As the Data and Insights Specialist, you’ll sit at the intersection of technology, culture, and social impact—building data systems and visualisations that empower both kaimahi on the ground and leaders at the highest level. From supporting the implementation of secure, user-friendly data systems to developing dashboards and automated reporting, you’ll play a key role in building a confident, data-informed culture across the organisation

You’ll work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and help ensure our data practices reflect the tikanga, values, and aspirations of Ngāti Toa Rangatira.

The Data and Insights Specialist is responsible for bringing…

·        Deep experience in data analytics, reporting, and system design

·        Proficiency in Power BI, SQL, Excel, and preferably Python

·        Familiarity with cloud technologies (e.g. Azure) and privacy law

·        Strong cultural competency and commitment to kaupapa Māori

·        A collaborative mindset and ability to translate complex data into clear insights

Your high-level experience and professional expertise in Data & Insights is a given, and you will be excited to engage and learn alongside Ngāti Toa.  Of course, you’ll be well practiced with/in

·        Visualising complex data in accessible ways using tools like Power BI and Excel

·        Building automated reporting systems that enable timely, evidence-based decisions

·        Working alongside IT teams to support the development and integration of cloud-based data systems

·        Interpreting and applying data privacy, security, and sovereignty frameworks in your work

• Collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand and respond to their data needs
