Aotea College Board of Trustees- Ngāti Toa Iwi Representative

Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira is seeking expressions of interest from iwi members to be appointed as the Ngāti Toa representative on the above board.

The Aotea College Board's purpose is to enable holistic achievement and prepare young people, as life-long learners, to thrive in diverse local, national, and global communities. Our values are manaakitanga, sauni, perseverance, and excellence—which foster connection, belonging, and individual worth.

This co-educational college of around 1300 rangatahi reflects the rich diversity of Aotearoa, with strong Māori and Pacific representation. We honour Ngāti Toa Rangatira and strive to support their aspirations for rangatahi.

The college strength lies in whanaungatanga – connection – so school leaders and staff are relational, approachable, and committed to knowing and understanding our students, and community. We continually have a capable School Board, engaged parent groups, a highly qualified and collaborative teaching staff, skilled support staff, and a loyal community. Together, we have built a strong record of academic excellence, student agency, and leadership.

The college staff have the professional skills, cultural capability, and attributes to deliver the best outcomes for our rangatahi, school, and community. We welcome any interest to join our school Board to support our school leaders and staff deliver the best outcomes for all Rangatahi, their whanau and the community we serve.

The board meets monthly approximately nine to ten times during the year. The position is remunerated.
