Based at our Cannons Creek Medical practice, our service and kaimahi (employees) pride ourselves on providing exceptional manaaki (care) and awhi (support) for our vibrant, diverse communities. Our unique practice, and operating model means that as a Rūnanga, we have a broad range of services (dental services, community health services and social work connections) that place people at the heart of our work.

Based:  Ora Toa Cannons Creek

The Dentist is responsible for providing and coordinating quality dental care for patients of the dental practice.

After hearing about us and about the role, you’ll know whether you’re the right person, and whether now is the right time for you. Your high-level experience and professional expertise in dentistry is a given, and you will be excited to engage and learn alongside Ngāti Toa. 

Of course, you’ll be well practiced with/in

  • Engaging with all people to sustain productive relationships.

  • Ensuring patients understand their condition and treatment options and obtain informed consent for procedures.

  • Undertake diagnostic, surgical and clinical dental treatment to an appropriate standard and within the scope of training and experience.

  • Ensuring accurate documentation of assessment and clinical treatment provided

  • Providing leadership by contributing to coaching and mentoring of fellow colleagues, sharing skills and experience to build capability and capacity, and participating in activities that lift the capability of all Rūnanga staff.

  • Liaise, where appropriate, with clinical associates and dental specialists involved with the patient’s care.

  • Supervise and support the work of the Dental Assistant

  • Comply with current NZDA Codes of Practice Competency and continuing Professional Development.
