Oranga Tamariki Care and Protection Panel

Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira are seeking expressions of interest for an iwi representative to sit on the Nelson Oranga Tamariki Care and Protection Resource Panel.

Care and protection resource panels are statutory bodies under the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989.

Care and protection resource panels are made up of people from local communities. Each panel helps Oranga Tamariki understand the local community and what services and support are available. They also help Oranga Tamariki provide coordinated services to whānau.

The Resource Panel has no direct decision-making authority as these panels are advisory in nature.

Skills required are sharing Iwi /whanau whakapapa connections to enhance positive outcomes for vulnerable tamariki , together with having some understanding of the impact of abuse, neglect and family harm on Whai Oranga/ child development of tamariki.

 The Panel meets every week, online, for one to one and a half hours. Closing date is 14 May 2025.
