HE KŌRERO WHAKAKAPI
Ko Ngāti Toarangatira, he iwi Toi Rangatira! This month we are highlighting some work by our Ngāti Toa whānaunga, Margiana Cullinan.
Just a little bit about my art background. I did 2 years at Whitireia Polytechnic and gained a Certificate in Visual Arts 1996 and Craft Design in 1997. I had two Tutors who inspired me, Owen Mapp my carving tutor and Wi Taepa who taught clay.
I've worked for a few months at Wētā Studio on the set of King Kong as a special effects makeup and hair technician...great experience. Last year I built my art studio where I spend most of my spare time (when not at work) creating jewelry. I absolutely love to carve and have taught myself how to silversmith.
If you would like your mahi toi showcased please email firstname.lastname@example.org
